T is great because it will kill all child processes started by the specified process. If you want to kill using the process ID (PID), you have to use /PID instead of /IM. F means to forcefully terminate the process forcefully. ![]() For starters, you can kill a program by using the following command: taskkill /F /IM winword.exe If you want to have more control and options for killing a program in Windows, use TASKKILL. If you look at the help page for TASKKILL, you see what I mean: The second command, which has more options and is more powerful, is TASKKILL.
